The founding of
RT-Diorama began in 2006, founded by Rudi Theunissen with a simple and very practical idea: to sell model kits that were no longer needed. What started as a small side activity soon became something more. New ideas appeared, experiments followed, and step by step RT-Diorama grew into a workshop for its own modelling products.
In the early years, everything was built on passion, patience, and hands-on work. Inspired by the great pioneers of the modelling world, RT-Diorama slowly developed its own direction: practical products for serious scale modellers, made with the kind of care that only comes from actually understanding the hobby. Handmade camouflage nets, plaster diorama bases, small accessories, buildings, ruins, and battlefield details became part of a growing range.
For many years, this happened quietly in the background. RT-Diorama was not born as a polished company with a large factory and a marketing department. It was built more like a garage company: piece by piece, after hours, through trial and error, with every new product teaching something for the next one. That slow growth became part of the brand’s character. Nothing was rushed, and almost everything came directly from real modelling needs.
A major milestone came in 2014, when Modellbau-König became the first retailer to carry RT-Diorama products. It was the first real step from a small workshop into the wider modelling market. In 2018, the arrival of the laser cutter opened another chapter. Suddenly, details such as doors, windows, frames, shutters, beams, and architectural elements could be produced with much greater precision. The buildings became more refined, more realistic, and more ambitious.
From 2020 onward, RT-Diorama entered a new phase. With SLA 3D printing, improved production methods, a broader catalogue, and a clearer professional focus, the company became what it is today: a dedicated scale modelling manufacturer combining traditional craft, modern technology, and historical atmosphere.
The roots, however, never changed. RT-Diorama still carries the spirit of its beginning.
Today, RT-Diorama is growing into a new era. It is no longer becoming just another interchangeable name in the scale modelling market, but something larger and more deliberate. A place where stories, worlds, ruins, landscapes, battles, memories, and atmospheres are not only imagined, but built and brought to life.
What began as a small workshop is slowly becoming a cathedral of miniature story telling.
FaustusModels was founded in 2022 in the same spirit that shaped RT-Diorama, but with the energy of a new generation. Created by Rudi Theunissen’s son, Tom Theunissen, it was built as a fast-moving, independent concept for the modern modelling world: digital first, highly detailed, historically grounded, and free to move faster than traditional production usually allows.
In many ways, FaustusModels was a natural continuation of the family workshop. Growing up around models, materials, tools, drawings, production problems, packaging, customers, and historical research gives you a certain instinct for the hobby. You learn early that a good model is never just a shape. It is information, atmosphere, engineering, and storytelling compressed into miniature form. FaustusModels was created to take that instinct into the digital age.
But FaustusModels was not shaped by hobby instinct alone. It was built through the mindset of real Industrial Product Design: observing problems, researching context, developing concepts, testing proportions, understanding production, and turning ideas into objects that actually work. This approach gives the brand its particular character. A FaustusModels product is not only sculpted to look right; it is designed with structure, function, printability, usability, and purpose in mind.
The name was chosen deliberately. The Faustian idea is not about decoration or empty drama. It stands for the restless search for knowledge, the refusal to accept obvious limits, and the will to push craft and technology further than they were yesterday. In modelling, that means asking uncomfortable questions: Can this be more accurate? Can it be more detailed? Can it be faster to access? Can a modeller on the other side of the world have the file immediately, without waiting for production, packaging, shipping, or stock?
That is where FaustusModels found its place. Instead of being locked into one rigid product line or one narrow subject, it was designed to react quickly. A rare vehicle detail, a forgotten field modification, a new upgrade set, a digital kit, a printable accessory, an experimental concept — if the idea is strong and the research is there, FaustusModels can move. It is not a slow catalogue brand. It is a workshop for sharp ideas.
At its core, FaustusModels focuses on digital files, but the mission goes beyond simple STL products. The goal is to create historically grounded, technically precise, and visually compelling modelling subjects with context. Not generic parts. Not throwaway files. But serious pieces for serious modellers who care about accuracy, atmosphere, and the story behind the object.
FaustusModels carries the same bloodline as RT-Diorama, but with a different weapon in hand: speed, digital precision, and the freedom to chase ideas before the market even knows it wants them.

We help turn models into worlds, with products that bring texture, context, damage, age, history, and atmosphere into a build.
Why us
Award-winning detail. Without the endless scratchbuilding.
Our products are designed as time-savers for serious modellers. They give you the kind of rich, atmospheric, high-end detail that would normally require hours of scratchbuilding, testing, sculpting, cutting, sanding, casting, or 3D modelling. Instead of starting from zero, you start with a strong foundation — and can focus on painting, composition, weathering, and storytelling.
We are not here to replace craftsmanship. We are here to amplify it.
RT-Diorama gives modellers the building blocks for miniature worlds: realistic structures, refined textures, natural vegetation, battlefield details, and carefully designed scenic elements that make a model feel placed, grounded, and alive.

Introducing the 35027 Railroad Crossing.
The central highlight of this creation is the thoughtfully designed transformer house, strategically positioned in the upper left corner of the baseplate following the rule of thirds, ensuring it captures immediate attention. A finely constructed railroad strip runs prominently in front of the transformer house, assembled using high-quality 3D-printed components.
Complementing this is an authentically fashioned improvised road crossing, put together from sturdy wooden planks and logs, again made from high detail 3D printed parts.
This versatile diorama base is tailored to accommodate various vehicles, from heavy tanks to standard European gauge railroad wagons. Explore the creative possibilities offered by the 35027 Railroad Crossing diorama base.
